What do you want from your audience?

In class, you want a grade from your professor. Give her what she wants!
- If it's a "communication" course, content doesn't matter -- presentation is everything
- If it's a "content" course (almost all of them), content should reflect what was taught, plus the specific assignment. Presentation is "plus alpha"
- Only the professor matters
Job interview: show your capabilities, including interpersonal relations, to get an offer
Academic publication: demonstrate originality and correctness using appropriate (to the field) methodology to be accepted, concisely
Bureaucratic report: to get boss's approval (and hanko), show you understand the boss's purpose, and complete -- cover all the details
