The following are five widely-used open source software programs:
- Linux
- GCC
- Open Office
- PostgreSQL
- Apache
- Choose two of the five, and use a search engine to find their (English) home pages on the Web. Give the URL of each.
- For the same two programs, try to find a home page in Japanese. If you find it, give the URL of each.
- Explain in English what each program (the same programs as in 1 and 2) does.

- Company (besides vendors of the software)
- Government (any level)
- School or university
- Briefly report in English what they use the program for, and why they use it.
