Due: October 28, 2014 11:00.
Write plain text e-mail to me. (Do not attach a wordprocessor
file such as Microsoft Word.) Submit to
ises-hw@turnbull.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp. Subject must contain the course
number FH11011 in hankaku romaji. (If you are registered for
FH61011, use FH11011 anyway. This is for sorting incoming mail, and
not related to university administration.)
Please answer the following questions in English. Each answer
should take two to three sentences and up to 30 words.
- Did you notice that the "wedding dress" example in the Introduction
to The Economic Naturalist isn't very suited to Japan? Why do
you think that might be?
- Professor Frank gives three examples on pp. 16-18: the light in the
refrigerator but not the freezer, the internationalized power
supplies of laptop computers, and locks at convenience stores. Are
any of these hard to understand for a Japanese? If so, pick one
(if there are more than one), and explain briefly.
- Here's an "economic naturalist" question for you: "Why did
Professor Frank explain about power systems in different
countries?" Briefly explain his goals and constraints that led to
the behavior.
