Top page URL for the Class Wiki: http://turnbull.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp/mediawiki/index.php.
You must log in to use the Wiki. Accounts have been initialized for all registered students, with standard account names and initial passwords.
On first log in, you must change your password.
This is automatic. When you log in, there will be a message saying that you are using a temporary password received by email, and you need to change your password. (The part about email is normal; the script I used to set up your account makes the system think it sent you mail even though it did not.)
After one week, unused accounts will be disabled, and you will not be able to log in!! If this happens to you, contact me and I will reactivate your account.
Once logged in, visit your profile page by clicking the 個人設定 link at the top right of the page. The change password link is a link about 10 lines down the page.
On your profile page you may change your true name (本名), your gender (性別), your default language for messages (使用言語), and your talk page signature (署名), and email address, as well as access the change password page.
Note: When changing your email address, a message with a link in it will be sent to prove you have the right to use that address. Click the link to confirm your email address change.
Next create a Home Page.
You can visit the sample account home page at http://turnbull.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp/mediawiki/index.php/User:S9954321.
Click on the Display Source (ソースを表示) tab to see the format. Please don't edit the sample account page! (You shouldn't be able to edit that page, but if for some reason you do see a tab labeled Edit (編集), don't touch the page!)
Click on the red link displaying your account name (Sxxxxxxx) at the top of the page. That is your home page. It's probably possible to change the name of that page if you wish.
Warning: You should put some content in that page now because other users can create your page even though they cannot edit it after creation. If someone else creates your page, you will not be able to edit it! If that happens to you, contact me.
Three links to Class Wiki pages must provided.
This section has not been updated since last year, and is incorrect. It will be updated soon.
The name of each link should contain your 本名 or your 署名, so that it will be different from any other student's links. See the sample user's page for examples: http://turnbull.sk.tsukuba.ac.jp/mediawiki/index.php/User:S9954321. You can copy and paste from this page to get the Wiki format for your own page. Of course you need to change the name and the links!
Since the pages you link to have not been created yet, these links will be colored red when you save the page or view the preview. They change to blue (or purple, once visited) when you create pages for them. You need a link for each of these pages:
English link. These links look like this (note: title is Japanese, link is English):
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CategoryTheory 圏論(英語版)]
Japanese link. These links look like this (note: title is English, link is Japanese):
[http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/圏論 CategoryTheory(日本語版)]
Proposed edited page on this wiki.
These links use "internal" links (automatically formatted by the underlined icon on the toolbar).
Now, create pages for these links.
- Just click on a red link to create the corresponding page. You will automatically get an editing box.
- In the English and Japanese pages, use the "external" link (globe icon on toolbar) for the link to Wikipedia for the article you will work on.
- In edit page (修正案), if you get a Wikipedia account you can copy the Wikipedia text into your page directly. (Note: My version of MediaWiki is a little bit old, so some recent features of Wikipedia may not work. Don't panic.)
- When you save the page, it will automatically be created and displayed.
