- On several occasions he pointed to inadequate rules.
- Sometimes (e.g. at the FCC) he argued that the official rules
(law and bureaucratic regulation) needed revision.
- Once he pointed out that where there are no official rules,
participants can make their own rules. This is especially true in
new industries like the Internet.
- Traditionalists (Keidanren's Okuda, Yomiuri's Watanabe) suggest that
if people simply didn't play the money game, everything would be OK.
- Then big business becomes a private club, like the baseball owners.
- There is a huge amount of fraud/sharp dealing in Japan: Kanebo and
Seibu, "ore ore sagi", home remodeling, the Aneha scandal,
ordinary stockbrokers ... it's not just Live Door.
