[Grad2021] [Turnbull Zemi] You heard it here first: PyScript @ PyCon US

Hi, all!

Here's the future of social science and business analytical code:

                        https://pyscript.net/

If you're not interested, that's OK, but I bet you have colleagues who
really should check this out. I'm no prophet, but this could change
our world.

Here's why: I just watched the keynote by Peter Wang at PyCon US 2022,
he does really amazing stuff with vim and a browser. Look ma! no
server, no Python interpreter, no Jupyter -- just a text editor, a
browser, and Python and HTML source code. (You cool kids can add some
https://csszengarden.com[1].) For his next trick, he invokes some
Javascript library routines -- from Python -- and plays SuperMario by
literally waving his hands in the air. Peter Wang is co-founder of
Anaconda -- yes, *that* Anaconda. Smart. Good at explaining, too.

Peter's keynote is here but I think you need to be a remote attendee
with a login:

        https://events.hubilo.com/pycon-us-2022/session/136695

I believe it will eventually show up on YouTube:

               https://www.youtube.com/c/PyConUS/videos

along the rest of PyCon US (like, all PyCon US going back a decade).

If anybody is interested in a Zoom or Teams bingewatch of PyCon
videos, here's the list of talks:

              https://us.pycon.org/2022/schedule/talks/

I can't promise it will happen (I can't even promise it will be
possible, the Hubilo videos may disappear after the conference), but
if there are a few suggestions, I'll see about coordinating. Maybe
can have in-person viewers in my lab, but capacity is limited and
after the renovation there's no network. :-( Not sure how quick that
can be fixed.

@Claus: hace muchos años no estudio a español <- you can tell, right?
but with a bit of beer the questions I ask about the Charlas track
might be hilarious. ;-)

@all Hope you all are having a great Golden Week, too!

Regards,
Steve

Footnotes:
[1] Yes, the cert's expired. The site is genuine as far as I can
tell, and all the Javascript is served from csszengarden.com. Minimal
risk IMHO, but YMMV.
By the way, I *strongly* recommend buying the book *CSS Zen Garden*.
It's coffee-table art book level beautiful (but for o-taku).
