As you probably know, Fulbright Fellowships are extremely prestigious,
great opportunities for networking, and well-funded. What you
probably don't know is that I'm a regular interviewer for Fulbright's
economics program, and I'm about due to serve again (they rotate us
about every 4-5 years). They don't make a big deal about conflict of
interest -- I've interviewed University of Tsukuba students and
faculty before (though not from Shako).

I'm not sure what CIES is, but if you're interested in the Fulbright
Program, this webinar from CIES may be of interest. (Although
non-Japanese probably have to apply through the home country, not
Japan, the information in the webinar would likely be helpful.) I'd
also be happy to talk about the economics and social science
fellowships to interested colleagues and students.
