Hello everyone:

We will have a meeting of the Zemi this week as follows:

Date:   2018 April 11, 14:00 (NOTE: time change)
Place:  3E401
Agenda: 1. Introductions for new members
        2. Outline of Zemi policy
        3. What is research?
        4. Round-robin reading of Kahneman's "Thinking Fast and Slow",
           Ch. 33.

Zemi attendance is in principle mandatory.  If you have a conflict
with a class or a company function for employment, you must tell me in
advance, but absence is permitted for those reasons.  For any other
reason, you must get permission for absence in advance.  (Of course
allowance will be made for emergencies, but that is my judgment.)
Failure to follow these rules will be reflected in your grades for
"enshuu".

   There are two ways to use the recordings.  First, read the whole
   chapter silently along with the recording to confirm the
   pronunciation of unknown words.  Second, read short parts (about 5
   minutes is probably good) trying to synchronize to the rhythm of
   the native speaker.  In both methods, perfection is not the goal.
   The goal is to "get a feeling" for how the native speaks, using
   intonation and rhythm to communicate emphasis and modes (such as
   questions and surprise).

   I will try to keep it updated for a week or two in advance.
3. I hope to provide notes for "Zemi policy" and "What is research?",
   but I also need to prepare a lecture for tomorrow.  When available
   I will send mail.

原則としてゼミの出席に義務を付ける。授業や就活にぶつかるとき、事前の連絡の上、欠席を許します。それ以外の理由の場合には事前に許可を申請しなければなりません。（ただし、緊急事態に配慮するが指導教
員の判断によるものです。）ルー

   録音の利用には方法が２つあります。一方、音声で言葉の発
   音を確認しながら一緒に章全部を読む。一方、一部（５分分がよいだろう）を
   読みながらネーチブの発音とリズムを真似する。目的は完璧なパフォー
   マンスではなく、ネーチブの話しかたの感じを把握し、主張やモー
   ド（質問など）をどう表すかを学ぶことが目的なのです。
