Hi everyone / こんにちは皆さん
Sorry for the English, will translate to Japanese later.
Here's the agenda for tomorrow:
1. Undergraduate students will practice their presentations using the
projector, concentrating on the following points:
a. Smooth and brief self-introductions.
b. Attractive and complete title slide.
c. At least two content slides, with focus on format: an
informative title (eg, instead of "Introduction", a brief
reference to the main point of background for the thesis;
instead of "Previous Research", a description of the field of
research).
d. Complete bibliography for *all* citations in the presentation,
including author and year of publication, and title of the
work. For books, also the publisher. For articles in
journals, also the journal name, month or quarter of
publication (where available), volume and number (where
available) and page range. Where electronic content was
downloaded, the URL (DOI is OK).
e. As much content as possible (least important).
2. Kenkyusei will practice their presentations, without supporting
handouts or the projector, concentrating on the following points:
a. Smooth and brief self-introduction (name, examination ID
number, "Turnbull Zemi", and place of origin = city, country,
optional prefecture/province/state).
b. Motivations for
i. graduate study
ii. at the Faculty of Policy and Planning Science in the
University of Tsukuba
iii. in the Turnbull Zemi
(about 1.5-2 minutes).
c. Description of research plan, including
i. statement of thesis (should be first)
ii. motivation for choice of thesis
iii. 1-2 main research questions (hypotheses, ideas you want
your research to prove or investigate)
iv. expected results (can be combined with 3)
v. importance (who benefits)
(about 2.5-3 minutes).
3. Undergraduates submit draft presentation materials to me by 10/25
(Sat) 17:00.
Next zemi: 10/27 (Monday <- DAY CHANGE)
1. Undergraduate presentation practice (see above, with full content).
2. Kenyusei presentation practice (see above).
