[Cloud9] [OT] Parsing a Chinese name

Hi, Chinese guys!

I have a correspondent who spells his display name in email as "Chong
Yidong" (in that order, with the space).  I have two questions.  (1)
Most likely, the family name is "Chong" and the given name(s) is
"Yidong".  Is that correct?  He probably is from Singapore, if that
helps.  (2) How do Chinese people feel about the western practice of
calling people you've never met in person by their given name?
